Jack Colgan

Those who came of age in the 90’s or 2000’s, along with their car-pooling parents, instantly recognize in Jack’s voice the echoes of the Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, Blink 182, and even John Mayer. With a voice that recalls the great pop and rock singers of that era, Jack’s is an honest and original sound. Nostalgic, yet modern.

He is just as comfortable playing in an intimate coffee house with his acoustic guitar as he is fronting a band on a big stage, singing and tearing up a banger on his telecaster.

Based in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Jack has been surprising audiences with foot-tapping covers of popular rock and pop tunes since he was thirteen years old. He has performed at venues across Southeastern Virginia and Eastern North Carolina, including turns as a teenager at the venerable Merlefest Youth Showcase and as part of Beach Street USA at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Jack comes across in an effortlessly authentic way. His approachable personality and genuine stage presence naturally draws audiences into the performance.

Jack discovered early on the liberating effect singing had on his ability to communicate with an audience. Having spoken with a mild stutter since he was a youngster, Jack would sing every day on the school bus during the ride home, minus the stutter!  In any case, he is transformed on stage. His performances energize audiences and his shows are just plain fun.

I was fortunate to be Jack Colgan’s professor for several recording and music industry courses at Radford University as well as having him sing and play guitar in Radford's Commercial Music Ensemble.  Jack is a talented and multifaceted musician.
